Summer 2008
Annual Club Dues Notices Sent Out
By now most of you should have already received your membership renewals for 2008-09. Beginning this year, the “dues year” will run from this September through August of the following year. Payment is due not later than 1 October, in order to maintain your active membership in the Club. Thanks to those of you who have already sent your checks in.
Please contact Donna Smith at 750-9823 if you have not received your notice.
Endowed Scholarship Update
As of early August, we have funded $35.900 of our $50,000 goal for an endowed scholarship in this Club's name. Your individual donations are vital to meeting our goal. Also, any donation to the endowed scholarship fund counts toward your President's Club or other elite gift membership status at OSU.
The Board encourages you to give any and all OSU donations to our Club Endowed Scholarship Fund (#480596) until we reach our $50K goal. Members/couples who donate $1,000 or more (collectively) to the fund by February 2012 will be tendered a lifetime membership (dues free) in the Tri-County OSU Alumni Club.
To make donations by check (include the fund number on the check), please send your gift to:

New Football game Watching Venue for 2008
We have been able to persuade Sandy and Vinnie at Hacienda Hills bar & Grill to hosts us for the football games this year. They are adding the Big Ten Network to their game day packages solely for us, so we encourage you to come help us fill the place up every Saturday. Capacity is approximately 180 persons (versus the 120 we had at Gringos). As usual, the placeStateMichigan game will be a reservations only event, in which the Club rents the facility for our exclusive use. However, other games will be open, advertised events to draw new members to the Club. Again this year, there will be NO SEAT SAVING. Please help welcome new folks to your tables and to our Club.
Night games (USC on Sep 13th is the first) will be accommodated, but we need to have 100 people or more for Hacienda to warrant staying open past their normal 8 PM close. I'm asking that you support the Club by coming early for dinner and staying for the game. So far, USC, Wisconsin , and the Penn State games are all scheduled for 8 PM starts on ESPN/ABC.
We also ask that you remember that most restaurants add an 18% tip to large party bills, so please take care of the servers appropriately. If you encounter a problem, please speak to a Board member about it, and we will discuss it with Vinnie.

New Club Shirts Available
Come “dressed for success” at future Club events! We have arranged with Audrey Ann Williams here in The Villages to make new Club polo shirts for those of you who noted the ones we had made a few years ago. The shirts bear the Club's logo over the left chest area, and are a great quality Egyptian cotton from Outer Banks. They are available in either White or Red, and the ladies shirts have a very stylish 6-button placket.
George Hurn will have sample size shirts at a table during each game day, so bring your checkbooks. We do encourage you to try on the samples-- these better shirts tend to run a bit larger than the ones we previously ordered, and they also launder much better.
Polo shirt prices are $25 (the XXL size is $27). Your order includes a $3/shirt donation back to the endowed scholarship fund. Orders should be delivered back to you within 2 weeks on game days. For those of you who already ordered at the picnic in July, your shirts will be available at the first game.
Buckeye Cruise for Cancer
The second edition of this great fun event is coming up over Valentines Day weekend, February 12-16, 2009 . This is your chance to meet Buckeyes from all over the country and to rub elbows for 5 days with Archie Griffin, Coach Earle Bruce, A.J. Hawk, Mike Nugent, Craig Krenzel, Kirk Herbstreit, the cruise's special sponsors--Chris and Stefanie Spielman-among others.
This year's cruise sails from Tampa , and the boat is entirely reserved for Buckeyes! We will have flyers at the Club's game day meetings, and you can talk with Donna Fenster about last year's adventure.
See you August 30th, and……… GO BUCKS!!!
